The TSB is applicable to 2021 model-year Rogues produced before or up to April 8, 2021, the automaker told CR, and owners can have their vehicles updated without charge at a Nissan dealership. It’s also worth noting that the post-repair Rogue managed a class-competitive speed of 53.5 mph through the avoidance-maneuver test, and that the Rogue is a CR-recommended vehicle. After the fix was applied to CR’s Rogue at a local dealer-which involved reprogramming the antilock braking system (ABS) and ESC software-we tested the Rogue again and it no longer exhibited the trait of lifting both inside tires off the ground. The end result was a retuning of the Rogue’s electronic stability control (ESC) system, for which Nissan issued a TSB to its dealers.

While we didn't consider what the Rogue was doing to be a safety concern given the control the driver maintained of the vehicle, it was still a rare occurrence to see in our tests.ĬR contacted Nissan, and the automaker immediately performed their own tests to replicate what we had seen with our vehicle. Jake Fisher, senior director of auto testing at Consumer Reports, says that waiting just a few months to buy a brand-new or heavily redesigned model can be enough time for the automaker to work out kinks in the assembly process, not to mention avoid potential safety issues.
